Commissioned by Going for Green
(The Tidy Britain Group) and funded by Severn Trent Water and Government
Office East Midlands, this was an interactive workshop for Primary
schools aimed at raising awareness and giving practical information
about water conservation.
Pupils had to solve the mystery of
the rapidly mounting water bills at the mythical St Cuthbert's school,
helping the caretaker Wendy Waters avoid getting the sack from the
tyrannical head
Skellington-Steele, and convincing the mischievous
ex-pupil Wally to stop wasting water. Thus, learning had to be assessed
and vocalised by the children, ensuring the topic was actively
explored.
“‘Wally's
Water Ways’ created a real splash ...
Speakeasy's approach resulted in well
researched, challenging and above all interactive play- High-speed
humour and an element of mystery kept the 'water detectives' involved
for a fun-packed 90-minute learning spree… as a vehicle for promoting
our messages the company achieved quite spectacular results.”
Sharon Keene, Education Officer, Going for Green
/ The Tidy Britain group.

"Excellent
format... the play was carefully thought out to allow pupils to express
their own ideas. They were fully engaged with the characters
throughout."
